Gretchen L. Hofing, MPH, RDN, LDN, NBC-HWC 

Gretchen Hofing is the Healthy Eating Coordinator with the Community and Clinical Connections for Prevention and Health Branch with the North Carolina Division of Public Health. In this role she provides technical assistance and subject matter expertise to partners across the state. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) with expertise in community-based health promotion and disease prevention.  

Gretchen has extensive experience with nutrition education programming in the land grant university and Extension systems, both with Michigan State University Extension and North Carolina State University. Her work has included developing and collaborating on comprehensive strategies across the socio-ecological model with a strong focus on programs and partners addressing limited-resource populations including SNAP Education, EFNEP, WIC breastfeeding peer counselors, Head Start, public schools, congregate meal sites, and community coalition building. 

Most recently she worked at Duke Integrative Medicine with the students and instructors of the Duke Integrative Health Coach Training. Gretchen also has experience as adjunct faculty for a community college, as a Lifestyle Coach with the Diabetes Prevention Program, and as a virtual health coach and dietitian. 

Gretchen received her Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Food Science and Foods in Nutrition & Business, and a Certificate of Professional Cookery from Kendall College. In her spare time, Gretchen enjoys biking the area greenways, hiking in Western North Carolina, and cooking.
